The Holiday Season Is Just Around the Corner And It’s Time To Think About Bookish Gifts
It’s about that time of year again where you have to start thinking about gifts! If you have a book lover in your life and are in desperate need of gift ideas, then look no further. Below you will find a plethora of ideas that would be the best gifts for book lovers. Every idea is categorized into four different categories: physical book readers, e-readers, audiobook readers, and decoration. Every type of reader gets a gift idea!
Physical Book Readers
There are so many ideas for physical book readers, whether it be a small gift that adds something special to their physical books, a more practical gift, or something just fun!
Personalized Book Stamp Or Embosser
If the book lover loves to read physical books, then the best gift for your book lover is a personalized book stamp or embosser.
The stamp or embosser is the perfect way for your book lover to add a personal touch to their book collection. Depending on the book lover’s personal tastes, there are many different options and designs that you can choose from. Whether it be this Personalized Book Embosser from Etsy that you can choose the color, design, and text, or this Personalized Stamp that has a more simple stamp design. The stamps and embossers tend to be under $30, making it the best gift that is both affordable and special for a book lover.
Bookmarks
A simple, yet cute gift option are bookmarks.
Every physical book reader needs bookmarks. Always. Like how do all my bookmarks go missing? How am I always in need of bookmarks? Perhaps I’ll never know the answer to those questions.
Anyways, back to the gift idea. There are many bookmarks in the market, whether you want a bundle of bookmarks that is more budget friendly, a small-business option, or a hand-painted option, there’s a perfect bookmark out there that would be the best gift for book lovers.
Annotation Supplies
Does your book lover love to annotate their physical books?
As someone who annotates a few of their books, I can accurately and humbly say that we always need annotation supplies, whether it be highlighters, pens, annotation tabs, or post-it notes. You name it, we need it.
A few of my favorite options from Amazon are these Alohaster Highlighters (they’re not very pigmented and therefore not visually distracting) and these ELLI Annotation Tabs (a big pack with a lot of color options). Personally, I haven’t used these pens before, however they’re definitely on my list this holiday season. The pens are FIOVER Gel Pens, which are quick-drying and smooth.
Stock up your book lover with the best annotation supply gifts!
Booksleeve
A book sleeve is perfect for readers who are on the go, whether it be traveling to a destination or taking a quick trip to a cafe. It’s the perfect sleeve to protect their books, making it the best gift for book lovers.
There are several different designs of book sleeves at a variety of different price points, such as a Crochet Book Sleeve, Embroidery Daisy Book Sleeve, or a Handmade Quilted Book Sleeve. If you want to show a book lover that you care about their books too, then book sleeves are the best gift for them.
Blind Date With A Book
So what if you don't know your fellow book lover’s reading taste, then a blind date with a book gift may be the perfect option for you!
Blind date with a book are essentially a mystery gift box. Inside there’s an unknown book that’s related to the book genre of your choosing. It takes the stress out of finding the perfect book for your book lover, while still having the gift be exciting and special.
There is some variety in these gifts, such as a Personalized Blind Date With a Book Gift Box from Etsy that contains more small gifts along with the mystery book, or if you want something simple, there are options where it is only the Blind Date With a Book itself.
E-Readers (aka Kindle)
While there are a variety of different e-readers on the market, Kindle is arguably the most popular and accessible e-reader. Therefore, our gift links are centered around Kindles, however, you can apply the same ideas to other e-readers as well.
Kindle Cases Or Kindle Charms
With the rise of e-readers (especially Kindles), there have been many accessories created to help personalize and protect your e-readers. A few of my personal favorite accessories so far have been e-reader cases and charms.
I have a Kindle and recently have received a Kindle case and charm. Personally, I love the Coquette Era Kindle Case and Vintage Heart Kindle Charm from a small business called KVRD The Shop. Not only are they cute in design, but they also help to protect my screen and plug-in outlet on my Kindle.
Depending on your book lover’s interests, there will be a case or charm that will be perfect for them! Both items tend to be more budget friendly, making it a great, inexpensive gift option for book lovers.
Kindle Stand
If you know someone with a Kindle, then they might be in need of a Kindle stand. While this might not be an absolutely necessary purchase if the book lover is able to hold a Kindle, it does make life easier and a perfect gift for book lovers.
A Kindle stand is another budget friendly option that lets your book lover friend or family member know that you still care about them and their reading habits. My personal favorite find is this Kindle Stand that is both adjustable and able to clip onto furniture and tables.
Kindle Page Turner
This may be another unnecessary gift purchase if the Kindle user is able to click to the next page themselves. However, here me out, a Kindle Page Turner would be so nice to have and would be the best gift for a book lover.
Basically, it’s a device that connects to a Kindle and you can hit the button to turn to the next page on your kindle. The Kindle stand AND the Kindle page turner is a game changer. Think of all the reading a book lover can do while laying down in bed with this set up.
Audiobook Readers
I didn’t forget about audiobook readers! With audiobooks becoming more and more accessible, there’s gift ideas for an audiobook reader.
Audiobook Subscription
An audiobook subscription is the best gift for book lovers! There are several different subscriptions with Audible likely being the most popular and followed by Scribed and Audiobooks.com.
Headphones Or Earbuds
If you want to splurge on an audiobook reader, then consider gifting the book lover with a pair of earbuds or headphones.
There are many options on the market, varying in different price points. I would suggest noise-canceling options, so that the book lover can really focus in on the words that are being spoken without being distracted by the outside world.
My favorite headphones are on the pricier side, however they are a great investment. They are the Sony WH-1000XM5 Headphones. I love that they are noise-canceling and have a long battery life. If you want a less expensive option that still has noise-canceling capabilities, then the Soundcore P30i Earbuds are another great gift option for a book lover.
Decor
Book Nook
Does your book lover have a bookshelf? If so, then consider buying them a book nook this upcoming holiday season!
A book nook is a DIY kit that you put together and it’s usually something book-related, like a miniature library or cafe. Since it is smaller in size, you are able to fit it into a bookshelf, alongside books, making it the best gift for your book lover.
Many book nooks vary in price and intricacy, so there is definitely one for everyone, depending on your limitations. My personal favorite find is this Miniature Book Nook: Owl Bookstore with LED Lights from Etsy.
Bookends
If your fellow book lover owns a bookshelf, then the next natural step is to gift them with bookends, especially if their bookshelf is filled with physical books!
Bookends are the perfect decor gift to add a little something extra to an otherwise ordinary bookshelf. Personally, I find the Bookshelf Bookend from Etsy to be cute and meta (get it because it’s a bookshelf within a bookshelf?) However, if you’re not feeling that option, there are more simple, yet chic bookends out there as well with Cement Rainbow Arch Bookends from Etsy.
Candles
If you’re uncertain about specific book related gifts, such as a book nook or bookmarks, and you want a gift that is more universal, then the best gift would be a candle.
Sure you can choose any candle scent, however there are scents out there that have a more “book” focus. Such as the Homesick Book Club Candle. Although Homesick candles tend to be on the pricier side, they are the perfect candle to splurge on for your book lover.
If you want something that feels more personalized to your book lover, Etsy has a lot of small-business candle makers with specific book candles. Such as this Rhysand Candle that smells like Rhysand from the A Court of Thorns and Roses series by Sarah J. Maas. All you have to know is a favorite book of your fellow book lover!
